Courses - Hedge Laying (2days)

Hedge laying is an ancient art that until recently had been in terminal decline along with the hedgerow itself. Thankfully this trend is now being slowly reversed and well managed hedgerows are now flourishing again.

During this 2 day course we will teach you the traditional art of hedge laying by tackling a hedge with the aim of completing a small section from start to finish.

The course will cover the fundamentals of hedge laying and all the necessary skills and techniques that are required for successful hedge laying.

We will lay the hedge in the Midlands style, as this is the most generic style and most widespread, but an overview of the different styles of hedge laying and the driving factors in their development will be discussed.

Midlands style is a good style to learn as most other regional variations are more or less based on Midlands style with slight changes here and there. All tools and materials for the course will be provided.
